I was involved in the National Honors Society, and shortly involved in the Media Club and Veteran Support Club. For sports, I played football, basketball, and ran track. I also made sure to support numerous other events, such as going to other sports’ games.
I will miss playing organized sports with my friends for the school teams. There have not been better relationships I’ve built than the friends from sports. I also love competing and playing in athletics, and that gets more rare after high school.
My favorite teacher is Mrs. Patel for AP calculus AB. She always pushes me to be the best person I can be, always trying to challenge my thoughts and build new skills. She explains concepts in more than just a “yes” or “no”, and provides plenty of reasoning to back her answer.
My biggest advice [to underclassmen] is to build connections with the faculty. Building connections at the school can lead to all sorts of resources, and lead to a better understanding of the class itself. Kindness does not take much, and building relationships with teachers is a great place to start.
I am most proud of the positive connections I’ve made at the school. I always can walk down a hallway and greet people or say something nice, and they will say it right back to me. I love having those uplifting moments, and it’s something I’m glad I’ve developed. I hope to be remembered as an up-lifter. I always try to be kind to random people, and build connections. I love greeting people even when the event may not call for it, because it does not kill to be kind.
My time at PR taught me to trust my intuition over anything. Academically, trust my studying tactics and answer choosing. In my community, trust my friends and family because they can sometimes see me better than I can.
Next year I’ll be studying exercise science at Auburn University! I am excited to move to a whole new area and meet brand new people like I hit a reset button. I hope to continue my academic journey strong at Auburn. However, I also hope to better my balance of social life and academics at the big SEC school. I cannot wait to meet new people.
