At PR I am involved in Varsity Tennis, Varsity Track & Field, SNHS, Spanish Club, Hope’s In Club, Class Officers, and Interact Club.
I look forward to getting involved in activities at UIUC as much as I did at PR. I met some of my best friends at many of my extracurricular activities and I am excited to meet new people. Also, I want to continue serving the community around me and volunteer to give back to the city that is providing me with a great education.
The thing I will miss most about Prairie Ridge is how supportive and encouraging our community is. Not a single time have I felt discouraged by a task, thanks to my teachers and peers who have reminded me that I am capable of accomplishing anything.
The thing I regret most is not living in the moment. I was always so worried about the future and how I should be getting things done now to help myself later. While it is sometimes good to think ahead, I wish I soaked up the good moments a little more.
In middle school I was very shy and my teachers made me think that if I tried to take harder classes I would fail automatically. Entering PR’s atmosphere changed my perspective on how I look at what I am capable of doing. These past four years I have become more confident in myself and never doubt I can complete a hard challenge.
My favorite class was Honors Anatomy & Physiology. Mrs. Stantesly is really passionate about her job and makes class engaging and interactive with various different labs. Also, this class helped me officially decide that I want to have a career in healthcare in the future.
I will be attending the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and will major in Speech and Hearing Pathology and minor in Disability Studies.
