Back and forth. Back and forth. No, it’s not a fight between you and your parents, but it is over almost as quick. Although you might not win the fight with Dad, PR certainly won what they went up against. The PR girls Fresh/Soph Tennis team has just wrapped up a very exciting season.
After two seemingly short months the girls have played 13 total matches and two all-day invites. One of these invites PR hosted and offered a plaque to whichever school won the most games overall. This is the second year our school has held it and this year, as well as last, the PR tennis girls got the plaque.
As for the matches, the team won 11 of the 13 matches that counted, losing only to Cary-Grove, Crystal Lake South, and Jacobs High School. But that’s not for lack of trying! One of the teammates, Dani Wallner, says “Everyone tried really hard and played powerfully this season.” Their efforts are shown in how many wins they did get.
Another tradition is to play Barrington High School even though they are not in PR’s conference. Shelby Steverson commented “they we were good, and we put up a good fight, they were just a little better.”
These girls definitely put forth their most for another fantastic season. As for next season, Coach Bauman has some ideas. She will be coaching for four years and is excited for next year because it is the first time in her coaching career the varsity coach will be helping. About this year’s fresh/soph team, she says, “They played very well. There were a lot of beginners but a high level of improvement.”
