FLAG FOOTBALL by Addison Sawyer
Week 2 of conference flag football has been eventful and historic. To start off the week, a relatively disappointing varsity loss against Dundee-Crown (12-31). The game, however, wasn’t a total bust as there were improvements on both sides of the ball. JV saw an impressive win against Dundee with defensive star Ava White scoring a birthday touchdown!
In more historic news, Prairie Ridge won their first ever flag football game at home against South (28-26). The game was a competitive battle to the end, with both teams fighting tooth and nail to get a final touchdown and win the game. Varsity star Lila Stewart emerged as game MVP. Lila saw both sides of the ball, scoring 2 of the 4 touchdowns for the Wolves. In the end, both offense and defense played well resulting in Prairie Ridge’s first ever flag football win!!
Not everything, however, can always be fun. Saturday, September 13 saw a difficult loss (0-31). The St. Viator game had its complications and difficulties, but Prairie Ridge showed up anyway despite lacking ⅔ of players, and uncertainties regarding game times.
SOCCER by Clayton Brock
Prairie Ridge Soccer has started off this season strong, a trend the boys continued during this week. The varsity soccer team is looking hot this season winning both their games this week. In the first game this week against the Belvidere Bucs the boys ran away with the score. They took the lead in the beginning and never looked back, beating the Bucs 2-0. Easily taking down the Belvidere Bucs like they were nothing. The second game of the week took place at a tournament on Saturday, playing against the Senn Bulldogs. Prairie Ridge had the home field advantage hosting the Bulldogs at PR. Going into the game the Senn Bulldogs looked like an even matchup for the Wolves based on stats. It ended up being close, decided in PR’s favor by just 1 goal with a final score of 2-1.
These games advanced Soccer’s overall record for the season to 5-2-1. Varsity’s next match is against Jacobs, an away game that starts at 6:30 PM on the 18th. Make sure to go cheer on the soccer team, and Go Wolves!
