Letter to the Editor: War in Ukraine
I think that the US should get involved in the Russian Ukrainian war. That’s because the Russian military and Vladimir Putin have committed War Crimes against the Ukrainian people. That’s because Putin has repeatedly bombed schools and Hospitals in Many cities and doesn’t seem to be stopping. They should also get involved because Ukraine hasn’t done anything major to Russia to start the war. “Russia and Ukraine have had no formal diplomatic relations since 24 February 2022. The Russian Federation and Ukraine are currently in a state of war: the Russo-Ukrainian War began in 2014 following the Russian annexation of Crimea from Ukraine.” According to Wikipedia. That’s why I think that the US should get involved in the War in Ukraine. – Cole Palese
The US should get involved in Ukraine. One reason is because Russia has committed war crimes against Ukraine by targeting civilians and bombing hospitals and schools. This isn’t right and many innocent lives have been killed because of the aggression of Russia. Also, there have been more than 1,000 casualties, 360 resulting in death. Another reason the Us should get involved is because once they get control over Ukraine, they won’t stop there. They will continue to invade other bordering countries and take over eastern Europe. – Austin Klauser

The US should not interfere unless Nato steps in. Russia has a lot of nuclear power, the website states “Currently, the country operates 38 nuclear power reactors and is steadily moving ahead with plans to expand the role of nuclear energy, including the development of new reactor technologies, in addition to the export of nuclear services. It seeks to close the fuel cycle, and fast reactors are considered a key component of this strategy.” If the US were to attack, a nuclear war would break out. Another reason the US should try and prevent war is that Putin is willing to use the nuclear power they possess as a website states” Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered his country’s nuclear forces to be placed on high alert and ominously threatened Russia’s adversaries with “consequences you have never seen in history.” Overall the conflict occurring is a lose/lose situation no matter what, however, I believe that this evidence helps support that the US should not engage with Russia.
