Homecoming Week is Here

As Prairie Ridge students transition into September, we get excited about the upcoming festivities that the month holds, more specifically Homecoming week! During Homecoming week, there are several activities planned throughout the week leading up to the Homecoming dance.

To begin, every day of the week there is a specific “dress up day” theme that students are encouraged, but not required, to participate in. See the daily announcements or signs posted around the building.

Even though the dress up days tradition has remained the same, there are a few differences in the Homecoming week schedule due to Covid-19.

This year’s parade, usually on the Friday before the big Homecoming football game, is being held on a Thursday. Students who are participating in a sport and some clubs have most likely been notified and will be in the parade.

On Friday, there will be a pep assembly (pep rally) that will take place after ninth period. This event includes lots of games with students and faculty, homecoming court results, and tons of fun!

Additionally, on Friday, the Block Party/Luau will be occurring from 4:30-6:30. This will be our “dance” this year, since Covid-19 protocol does not permit holding an actual dance inside.

However, don’t be discouraged because the Block Party/Luau will still have the exact same activities as a normal dance. Food and concessions, a DJ, a photo booth and backdrops, and a variety of games will be included.

So, while Homecoming week is a little different and new to some students this year, the fun and amazing memories will still take place at PR.
