Whether it was dancing to Billy Jean, playing glow in the dark ping pong, or singing one of their favorite songs, our 2011 seniors rocked Prairie Ridge for the annual performance of PRAC. Senior girls Kiki Osude, Anya Kremer, Sarah Clayton, and Kelley Nugent along with senior boys Chad Anderson, Steven Covalt, Ben Terdich, and Neelesh Nath competed to win prize money that would go towards a charity of their choice. Chad Anderson and Kiki Osude each won $100 for Helping Paws Animal Charity and the International Rescue Committee, respectively.
The hilarious reenactment of Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly’s performance of “Por Ti Volare” from Stepbrothers made the audience feel like they were in the movie themselves and landed Chad Anderson first place for the senior boys. The beautiful Kiki Osude flawlessly sang India.Aire’s “The Truth” to win first place for the senior girls.
Other seniors who competed each contributed something unique to the night. Neelesh Nath dedicated his act to the senior class as he sang and played “Time of Your Life” by Greenday, stirring emotions as the seniors prepare for their graduation here at PR. Sarah Clayton sang a gorgeous rendition of “Better Than a Hallelujah”by Amy Grant, dedicating the song to her father. Anya Kremer’s
Not only did our senior PRAC-ers take the stage, but talent mildly confusing dance got a few laughs from the audience as numerous guest performers started their own interpretive dance in the backdrop. Kelley Nugent’s hip hop dance was full of energy and fun, as was Ben Terdich with an expressive cover of Billy Joel’s “And So It Goes.” And who could forget the highly anticipated ping pong match between Steven Covalt and Luke Lamar?
Each PRAC member brought their best performance, adding a new flavor to the overall excitement of the performance as a whole. show acts filled in between: Black Cat Bone (featuring seniors Jimmy Pinkl, Matt Palsgrove, and Sam Zuidema), Mosshart (featuring seniors Grayson Randall, Tyler Rippel, Tyler Ommen, and Rebecca Reitz), the lovely Maya Jacobs and Cody Nowak and their fellow Madrigals, as well as solo performances with Matt Gonsiorek, and jump-roper Claire Hensley, all added to the fun of the evening. Everyone backstage flipped in and out of other performances, everyone taking part in something unexpected.
The atmosphere behind the stage demonstrated what a great group of students we have here at PR. The audience was amazing and supportive of all PRAC and variety show performers. The night was reflective of the friendly setting here at PR, and it’s something these seniors will never forget.
