The best days are the first to flee, as Virgil said. Indeed they are. Looking back, I can remember the wonderful memories that I was able to create here at PR. The amazing students, teachers, and faculty have definitely made my high school experience unforgettable, but the time has come that I must move on.
It is unbelievable to even think that I will be finally going off to college soon. Finally, I will be taking one of the greatest leaps in my life, a step I have been looking forward to since I was little. Now it’s here. Surprisingly the fact that college is right around the corner does not seem as daunting as I thought it would. Why? I’m prepared. Taking many AP classes throughout my high school career has challenged me academically. Also, participating in many extracurricular
activities like newspaper, Math Team, NHS, SNHS, and others has allowed me to develop my interests in different areas so that when I go to college I’ll be able to connect with a variety of people who share the some of the same interests as me.
High school has also taught me how to become a good citizen to the US. One concept that many teachers support throughout their teachings is thinking for oneself and being an individual. Although the process was tiring and painful, it was worth it. Now, I am a changed individual: I can think for myself and create my own decisions instead of accepting those that society hands me.
Looking back, I realize that I never really appreciated high school as much as I should have; I was always so bogged down in the workload and activities and other things that I never realized how much high school was changing me for the better. So to those of you out there that have actually read this article, I have one piece of advice to you: Don’t let these days past you by. Before you know it, you’ll realize optima dies, prima fugit.
