Although many people say that senior year is all fun and games, I’m happy to say that senior year has had the ability to be the most challenging year, as it was in my case. If you’re looking for a pure, stress-free senior year, I would advise my younger brethren to refrain from taking numerous AP courses, having a job during the school year, and participating in extracurriculars that include tutoring and varsity sports. In addition, you should probably not apply to more than 10 colleges.
However, if you want the transition to college life and academics to be easier, the academically challenging path is definitely beneficial. The opportunities here at Prairie Ridge are vast, and I am glad to have gotten involved. The activities and academics have pushed me to my mental limits; however, Track & Field has given me the opportunity to stay in shape and push myself to my physical limits. Also, many extracurriculars, including Spanish NHS and Senior Leaders, provide the chance to help others while meeting many humorous people (shout-out to 3rd/9th hour Numeracy Center!!). Just try to ignore those peers making fun of you for actually challenging yourself. Either way, make some memories senior year!
I hope that the Class of 2011 is forever remembered, not only for our awesomely high ACT scores and GPAs, but for our contributions to the school’s atmosphere and community. I challenge each subsequent class to match and exceed the performance of the Class of 2011. As I head off to the University of Notre Dame in the fall, I will always remember Prairie Ridge, the people I’ve met, and the teachers that have taught me. There were friendships made here and talents discovered that I truly will never forget.
