The decorations at this year’s Homecoming dance complemented the theme City of Lights.

Freshmen had their first homecoming dance on October 1, and the dance got mixed reviews from many freshmen. Some said it was okay, while others said they had a lot of fun.

When I asked freshmen about their experience, numerous freshmen said it was a grind fest. “A lot of fun, but a lot of grinding,” said Ryan Munter. And Brooke Hedberg also said “Too much grinding.” “The grinding was gross,” said Leah Levin.

Countless freshmen had fun at the dance, because they enjoyed spending time with friends.  “The dance was a fun experience, especially with friends.” said Payton Andrlik. “The dance was fun, if you have a group of friends that know how to dance,” said Rylee Jones.

There were freshmen who loved the dance and music. “The dance and music was lit,” said Cameron Suerth.

But others weren’t fans of the music, and they thought could have played better music that was more recent. “The dance was fun, but the music was sort of outdated.” said Andrew Khoury. “It was okay, the music wasn’t that good,” said Haley Mari.

The food area served as a nice place to chill with friends. “The dance was okay; it wasn’t amazing. But, the food area was good, it was nice to hangout with friends there,” said Heidi Lee.

But there wasn’t a variety of food, and it was a bit expensive. “There wasn’t much food there, just candy. The gatorade was overpriced, it costed $3.” said Luke Janik.

Freshmen also commented on how there could have been different food, instead of just concessions. “The dance was a lot of fun, but in the beginning it was kind of boring. The food was like concessions. They could have had food like hotdogs,” said Jacob Munter.

Going to this homecoming could be preparation for the next one. “It’s good to go this year, so you’ll know more for the next homecoming dance,” said Greta Heinz.

The decorations didn’t match their expectations. “The dance was okay, the decorations could have been better, like not having it taped to the wall,” said Brian Williams.

One freshman compared this year’s Homecoming to the dance freshmen had in their middle school. “It was fun, but I liked the 8th grade dance better. Homecoming could have had more decorations,” said Austin Gregory.

Freshmen had different opinions on the dance, food, decorations, and music. The grinding was one of the cons. There were mixed reviews overall, but the majority of freshmen had fun at the dance.

Is a Homecoming dance ticket worth $15?
