As cliché as it is, remember to stay true to yourself. Don’t sacrifice who you are for the sake of fitting in or meeting someone’s unrealistic standards because, in the end, it’s not worth losing yourself for a short moment in the grand scheme of a lifetime.
It’s so hard to choose one, so three of my favorite teachers have been Ms. Glover, Mrs. Dunker, and Mrs. Bluemlein because they have been such a great motivators and advocates. I’d also like to shout out all the English teachers I’ve had at PR since they have given me the free range to improve my writing, grow ideas, and expand on all the many things I have to say.
Honestly, I am most proud of the fact that I am able to graduate. It might seem small or a given, but the struggles of chronic illness made it unsure if I could handle the toll of full-time in person high school. I’m just happy to have (sorta) kept up with my peers albeit the perfectionist inside of me says I could’ve done better.
I hope to be remembered as a person who used their intellect to bring attention and commentary to vital past and current events that are affecting both our communities and others around the world. I want to be known for the things I stood for and the ways I expressed myself, be it through my words, fashion, or other statements.
