The strip of Gaza has been in tragic ruins, a sanctioned piece of land to a future parking lot, an unnecessary waste.
Amnesty.org states the obvious in its October 20th, 2023 article, “Israeli forces carried out attacks that violated international humanitarian law, including by failing to take feasible precautions to spare civilians, or by carrying out indiscriminate attacks that failed to distinguish between civilians and military objectives, or by carrying out attacks that may have been directed against civilian objects.”
This is the tip of the iceberg of how severe this war has really gotten.
Violating the International Humanitarian law is sorrowful to be aware of this happening in 2023-2024. We as humans in today’s world should have learned by now how to respect others’ right to live, no matter the conflict. It is outright unbelievable that thousands of innocent civilians in Gaza are trapped, starving and dying without a hospital or family members alive to comfort them.
While, Israel has not said their actions are genocide intended, the International Court of Justice thinks otherwise. The attacks on Gaza are plausible to become a genocide, if not already is to many peoples eyes around the globe. ICOJ (International Court of Justice) have recognized these theories of an attempted Genocide and are finally taking action. “In a provisional order delivered by the court’s president, Joan Donoghue, the court said Israel must ensure “with immediate effect” that its forces not commit any of the acts prohibited by the convention” written by Alastair McCready, Maziar Motamedi and Mersiha Gadzo in the January 29th, 2024 article.
Innocent citizens of Gaza are being bombed and starved with nowhere to go. All of Hospitals and shelters have been destroyed, nothing left but the brush of crumbled buildings. Israel has expressed that they will not make peace until the land is theirs. This implies the plan of wiping out the population of the Gaza Strip as a whole.
Knowing this, does Israel need to recognize their actions as a genocide for it to classify as one, or is their behavior enough to justify genocide against this war?
Viewing this as an American citizen, thousands of miles away from the attack is affecting our citizens more than realized. As a result of this war, we Americans have suffered stabbings, riots etc. No country is safe from The Israel-Hamas terrorist attack, so imagine the safety of Gaza itself.
