Letter to the Editor: Can the U.S. Help?
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022. Russia since then has taken over many parts of the eastern part of Ukraine. A big question around the America is should the U.S. intervene with the situation in Ukraine. The U.S. should not intervene in the Russia-Ukraine situation.
In the article “Why America Should Not Deepen Its Military Involvement In Ukraine” Tom Collina said,” President Biden announced that he will be sending an additional $800 million in military assistance to Ukraine, as part of a $14 billion support package he has already approved.” Look how much we have already done.
Sending resources is enough, to send our troops in would just be horrific and have so many cons.
Once again, in the article “Why America Should Not Deepen Its Military Involvement In Ukraine” Collina said,” A product of the Cold War, Mr. Biden well understands that direct U.S.-Russian conflict could escalate to nuclear war. The Soviet Union may have disappeared 30 years ago, but its nuclear weapons did not, and neither did ours.” Essentially if we intervene and things get very messy, which they have a huge chance of if we intervene, then we could have a nuclear war fair once again.
It’s just not a great idea for America to intervene, but we should definitely keep sending our resources and good spirits. – Jack Dahlem
