Here in this article we will feature five of Trump’s current and approved nominees. Their past life will be discussed along with their new role or the role they are nominated for. Many of these cabinet members come from political, military, or business backgrounds. As an opinion piece from Fox News states, “President Donald Trump has appointed the best incoming cabinet of any president since Abraham Lincoln’s famous Team of Rivals in 1861.” In opinion article from Washington Post, find a different attitude: “Donald Trump’s cabinet brings with it a combination of ethical problems, inexperience, hostility to the missions of the departments its members are being called to lead, and plain old ignorance that is simply unprecedented,” and “This is shaping up to be nothing less than the worst cabinet in American history.” Let’s take a look at these bad/good Cabinet members, shall we?

Chief of Staff – Reince Priebus

Republican National Committee chairman since 2011, is now currently serving as Trump’s Chief of Staff. He will now oversee Trump’s legislative agenda and helps steer him in the right direction. During his time in the national committee he also

served in the general counsel. As Chief of Staff he will also help in the hiring of West Wing Staff and control daily functions. In a CNN article, it states Reince as being an important figure in Trump’s campaign, and helping him to the end. While as an article from the New York Times says, “The grass-roots activists may be angered by the selection of Mr. Priebus as chief of staff, viewing him as a deal maker who will be too eager to push the new president toward compromise on issues like taxes, immigration, trade, health care and the environment.”

Press Secretary Sean Spicer

Chief Strategist and Communications Director at the Republican National Committee, is now working as Press Secretary. As press secretary he will inform the media on Trump’s actions and statements. Sometimes he will have to inform the media of the underlying meaning of Trump’s statements and actions. From a CNN article, it says that many colleagues, people in Washington, and others think that Spicer will be fired or resign. This all comes from information, that is believed that Trump is disappointed with Spicer. The article continues saying that, “Spicer is a fighter” and he fought to get his position.

Secretary of Defense Gen. James Mattis

a veteran of the marine, serving 44 years, was an important man Iraq. Leading troops, while be known as “Mad Dog,” with great leadership. As Secretary of Defense he will advise Trump on military command, and will be the second highest authority to command the military. As from an article from TIME, it says, that James will be allowed to become Secretary of Defense even though he hasn’t hit the seven year mark. This seven year mark keeps military officers from serving as Secretary of Defense, until they have been retired for seven years. Some people were okay with allowing him to become Defense Secretary, while others weren’t.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson
former Exxonmobil CEO, is now Trump’s Secretary of State. Rex joined Exxon back in 1975; working his way up the ranks to CEO. As Secretary of State he will command foreign affairs. He will make decisions on foreign matters, as well as advise decisions made by the President. In an article from Forbes, it says, even though Rex has no political experience he has: negotiating skills, management skills, and world leadership, plus more. Overall, saying that his other skills make up for no political experience.

Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos

Republican donor, school choice activist, and chairman of the American Federation for Children, is now serving as Trump’s Secretary of Education. Betsy has also been in politics for over 35 years. As Secretary of Education she will oversee federal influences on education. She will also aid the president in policies for schools, as well as put in place policies that provide government assistance to schools. As Fox News says, many people don’t think she’s a great choice because of lack of experience. While others feel that with her political experience, she will do a fine job.
