Tennis Champ
Number one singles player Annie Timm started playing tennis when she was 3 years old, and has been playing for 14 years.
When asked what her favorite memory from her high school tennis career was “going 5 hours down south to Edwardsville to play in a huge 32-team tournament. The whole van ride and sharing a hotel room with my teammates was such a great experience.”
Individually, Annie went to state for her third time and was the only qualifier from Prairie Ridge. This year, her “experience at state this year was much better due to the fact that I finally made it to the second day of the tournament which meant I made it into the top-32 in the state!” she says.
Annie also adds that overall, the level of competition was higher because this year, the 2A tournament was harder to qualify for, so “the players who made it in were much better than in previous years.”
This year, she won the conference championship and finished in the top 32 in the state of Illinois. The entire varsity team also tied for first in the conference tournament.
In September 2015, she was also named the Athlete of the Week by the Northwest Herald.
In the future, she plans “on playing tennis in college whether it be on the school’s team or just a club team.”
“I love tennis and it has been a huge part of my life so I’d never give it up.”
