The Jungle Book Receives Outstanding Reviews

The Jungle Book live action movie opened in theaters on April 15, 2016.

The Jungle Book has joined the Disney live action movie series, including Maleficent and Cinderella. The Jungle Book was originally released in 1967 and was based on the book by Rudyard Kipling.

The story follows the “man-cub” Mowgli as he is forced to leave the jungle his home with the wolves when a Tiger begins to hunt him. During his journey Mowgli has many encounters with a variety of animals including a honey obsessed bear named Baloo. Many fans were happy to know that the song “Bare Necessities” returns in the new movie as well!

“I really enjoyed how they managed to make one of my favorite childhood stories come to life,” said sophomore Katie Thompson.

The Jungle Book received extremely high ratings and reviews. Rotten Tomatoes awarded the movie with a 94% approval rating.  The set of the movie was considered “one of the most engrossing artificial worlds since [James Cameron’s] Avatar” according to movie critic Alonso Duralde.

In addition to the set and storyline, the actors in the movie had an outstanding performances. Ben Kingsley (Bagheera), and Neel Sethi (Mowgli) were applauded for their strong performance in leading roles. Scarlett Johansson was also praised for her hypnotising voice as the snake, Kaa.

So far, the movie has won many awards including the Jupiter Award for Best International Film and various Golden Screen Awards. Soon we’ll see whether it will win nominations for the Academy Awards for Best Music and Grammy Awards for Best Recordings for Children.

In the future you can expect to see the characters come back in a sequel. Neel Sethi and director Jon Favreau has already confirmed that they will return in a second movie that has yet to have a release date.
