What is your opinion on this year’s Homecoming theme, PR Pride?
a PR Voices poll
“Um, what?” -Lexi Viegas, senior
“I’m hoping it’s Spirit 100%.” -Kasey Theil, senior
“It’s bad.” -Samantha Ingwalson, junior
“It doesn’t seem very well thought out.” -Emily Nikolich, sophomore
“It seems very bland.” -Jackie Schneider, sophomore
“I think it’s great. I think the showing of school spirit with dress-up days and the superfan dress-up at sporting events has been great this year, so I’m glad we can continue it at homecoming.” -Mrs. Jones, FACS teacher and student council sponsor
“Not really creative.” -Stephanie Allo, sophomore
“Okay. I don’t have much of an opinion.” -Reese Sadowski, senior
“It’s kind of a vague subject. I would like something that’s more fun and more specific.” -Shannon Sabol, junior
“I’m not even sure what it is.” -David Jackson, sophomore
“I feel like the homecoming theme for this year, PR pride, is a great way to express our dedication to the school. At first, the theme struck me as a little lackluster, but what could be more original than PRHS? There are plenty of under the seas and night at the movies to go around, but there’s only one Prairie Ridge High School, home of the wolves.” -Sarah Reitmeister sophomore
“Better than last year’s.” -Lauren Thelander, freshman
“I really like how different it is from last year and it seems very unique compared to what other schools do!” -Sanjana Nath, sophomore
“I honestly don’t know how I feel about it. I mean, it’s ok.” -Ashley Evans, freshman
“I think that we can come up with something better. I’m not saying it’s bad.” -Dylan Steinkamp, freshman
“We have that all the time anyways.” -Vironica Wagner, sophomore
“I don’t know how to dress up. Will the fight song be played at the dance?” -Herr Higgins, German teacher
“I thought it’d be cool if we did spirit instead of pride. Madrigals has something really cool in mind for that at the homecoming parade.” -Reilly Branson, senior
“I’m not super excited about the theme of PR pride, but I feel like homecoming is way more than a theme anyway. It’s a time to have fun with your friends, so the theme shouldn’t matter all that much.” -Anna Gehrmann, senior
“I am not too fond of the theme either since it’s not very original, but it’s not about the theme that is the spirit of homecoming. It’s about the tradition behind it and the fact that it’s very meaningful to people especially past PR alumni.” -Claire Gehrmann, senior
“When I first heard that the theme was PR pride, I was a little surprised. I was expecting something more similar to last year, PR pride seemed too plain. Now I can see why they picked it. Homecoming represents the current students and the former graduates of our school so what better theme to represent our dance this year than our colors?” -Anna Pontius, sophomore
“I love it. This is kind of what homecoming was like when I grew up. It brings out all of our individual talents and interests. It brings us together as a larger group.” -Mrs. Berg, counselor and student council sponsor

I don’t think the theme is good. There are so many better themes– ANY of the past themes– to choose from. The theme is bland; I would like a theme that has good decorations, streamers, lots of balloons, and even specialty decorations to fit the theme. Many students dislike the theme as well. 63% of the voters. They should let the students enter themes. And then they should vote for them. It takes the fun away from the people decorating the gym. It also was a very boring theme to decorate floats for.

I’m not a huge fan of the theme. I understand if we don’t have enough money for a big theme due to the barn dance, but I would prefer something more unique than PR Pride.

That’s oh so silly

The truth is, Prairie Ridge Booster club spent all of their money on the barn dance last year (that not many people went to) so they had to come up with PR pride as the theme…whoo hoo. I just wish we got to vote on the theme as a school because I know no one would have picked PR pride as a theme if it was an option. I’m still hopeful, though. It might turn out okay. ~Valerie, senior
