Prairie Ridge’s Homecoming Week ended with a blast on Friday, October 5th. From the pep rally to the parade to the block party, students could not help but enjoy themselves and spread the school spirit!
The activities kicked off with the pep rally in the gym. Here, many student athletes gained recognition for their outstanding achievements. Among the variety of other events that took place, students particularly enjoyed the teachers’ dance routine, the routines of the pommies and cheerleaders, the basketball shootout, and the tug of war game between the different grades.
“My favorite part of the pep rally was the tug of war between the freshmen and the junior class,” exclaimed junior Maddie Mocchi. “It was really funny, even though the juniors lost to the freshmen.”
Junior Maia McLin expressed a different opinion. “I really liked the dance with the teachers, football players, poms, and cheerleaders,” explained Maia. “Those teachers sure knew how to bust a move!”
Overall, the students were enthralled by the new additions at the pep rally from previous years. “In general, I liked how they involved the students a lot more this year,” stated junior Cecilia Smith.
“The pep rally seemed to really include people from around the school,” agreed Maia.
Once the pep rally had finished, students gaped in amazement at the vibrant shades of blue, the colorful undersea decorations, and the marchers dressed up as surfers, mermaids, and fishes and the annual homecoming parade. “I loved the parade this year,” exclaimed sophomore Jenna Martino. “I would say all the floats were better than last year because they had more creative ideas. The tennis team’s float was my favorite- they were wearing mermaid suits.”
“I really liked the Madrigals float,” stated Cecilia. “It was well decorated.”
Sophomore Haley Glenn, who was marching alongside the float for the fall play, explained how overall, she enjoyed the parade since it was “fun to be with everyone and show PR spirit.”
The Girls Cross Country team won 1st place for their float, followed by freshman volleyball and sophomore volleyball.
After viewing the phenomenal floats, students kicked back, relaxed, and enjoyed themselves at the homecoming block party in the courtyard. “I’m having so much fun,” exclaimed junior Maddie Rosenberg. “ I’m just hanging out with friends that I never see around in school!”
“I love to come and get food here! It’s always so good!” added Haley.
“We played some baggo and ate free ice cream,” shared freshman Allison Ledder. “I didn’t think [the block party] would be so awesome, and I’m looking forward to it next year!”
This year’s Under the Sea homecoming activities left the students with unforgettable memories and a quench for another spectacular homecoming next school year!
