If you had told me that the San Francisco Giants were going to win the World Series at the beginning of the season, I would have called you crazy. Insane. Lunatic. But the unlikely happened.
The Giants won the World Series for the second time in three years, and against such a Big-Batted team, the Detroit Tigers. The Giants were led by “The Kung Foo Panda” himself, Pablo Sandoval. Sandoval began his Series with three home runs in one game, followed by an outstanding performance in the rest.
But the Panda wasn’t the only one getting it done. Some unlikely players such as Gregor Blanco and Brandon Belt helped contribute to the effort, but really, offense was not the order for the day. It was the unlikely domination of the Giants pitching that caught the Tigers off guard.
The Giants pitching staff allowed 6 total runs in 4 games. They couldn’t do that in the regular season even if they tried. Plus it didn’t help that the Tigers hitters couldn’t hit a baseball for their lives besides Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder. Now, with the Tigers getting swept in the series, they have to look towards next season, where they are going to most likely lose their All-Star closer Jose Valverde and streaky hitter Delmon Young.
But why am I talking about the losers? Heck, San Francisco is still partying. Let’s just give a hand to our 2012 Champs, the San Francisco Giants, who weren’t even supposed to be there in the first place.
