On Sunday, the Prairie Ridge Poms competed in the open pom category for the first time and qualified for the state competition with their high score.
About the first place finish, head coach Lana Bachta said, “this was such a huge accomplishment for the girls.”
The PR poms competed in 3A, a higher division than last year, at the competition held at St. Charles East. Competing in the higher division raised the bar, with PR competing against schools with much larger enrollments.
“We were all so excited,” Coach Bachta added.
The state competition will be the first weekend in March at the Peoria Civic Center.
