The Prairie Ridge Wolfpack Marching Band certainly made a phenomenal first impression in the McHenry Marching Band Competition on September 10. Performing the music from a Cirque du Soleil show, Quidam, the audience was captivated by the exciting tunes and visuals.
Anneliese Henderson, a senior, thought that for their first competition, the band did “pretty well; a lot better than [they] have in past years.”
Even though the McHenry Competition is not one in which bands are competing against each other, comments from the judges give the band a chance to learn how to fix many of their mistakes and just get used to the atmosphere of performance. Sophomore Stephanie Marinelli knows that “McHenry is always a good competition for the band to start with… it gets us ready for bigger performances, like NIU.”
