With a sister who was the former valedictorian of PR and a mother who was the salutatorian of her high school, Alli has always been inspired to push herself to the best of her abilities. “I didn’t expect it at first,” she explains, “but when I found out my rank at the top, I tried to keep it that way.” Her accomplishment of salutatorian in high school “represents all the hard work [finally] paying off.”
Alli has kept busy through the amount of work she has had to do both inside and outside of school. She has not only managed her grades, but she has also participated in musicals, plays, the Madrigals, choir, German NHS, and German Club. In addition to the time spent in these extracurriculars alone, Alli has dedicated much of her hours leading others as the President of German NHS, and as the Vice President of the Choir Board. She describes her biggest challenge during her time at high school as “managing time” and “trying to keep her stress level down” while trying to accommodate both her school work and extracurricular activities.
The most important thing Alli learned through her high school experiences that helped her with success was to “figure out the person you want to be, and become that person.” She believes the only way to truly be yourself and be happy is do to something you want to and love.
Out of everything else, music has been the biggest part of Alli’s life throughout her four years at Prairie Ridge. Even before she began as a freshman, Alli was inspired to participate in musicals, plays, choir, and the Madrigals like her older siblings had. As she took part in these activities, she found herself “growing a lot more as a person” through her interaction with others. More than anything else, Alli was able to use her involvement in music as a means to discovering her true self. Her favorite role out of all the musicals and plays was Helen Burns in Jane Eyre. “Before that show, I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my major in languages,” Alli admits, “yet the character of Helen and the lessons she was able to teach Jane inspired me to want to teach too.”
Alli plans to attend Indiana University Bloomington to major in both German and French, and also wants to learn Italian on the side. In the future, Alli hopes to teach English in foreign countries for a living as she travels the world. We wish Alli the best of luck as she goes on to pursue her dreams.
