German Club to Celebrate Oktoberfest

Imagine Bratwurst as far as the eye can see, and red, black, and yellow colors all around. Every student is welcome to join this year’s Oktoberfest on October 6th at Park Place, and enjoy an authentic German feast and play games with all other German Clubs in D155.

Oktoberfest is on Thursday, October 6th from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Park Place Banquets.

To go to Oktoberfest, students must have completed a permission slip, and turned it into Herr Higgins or Herr Kremer by October 3rd along with $15 dollars to pay for the meal and bus travel. The students will arrive and depart at the PRHS main entrance.

There will be many entertaining games where teams will compete against other D155 German Clubs. One of these games is Schokospiel, a game where students must unwrap German candies, that are tightly wrapped in a bunch of Teflon Wrap, without dropping them. There will be other games, and overall students will play for fun and earn German candies.

President of German Club Sam Price said, “Students should go to Oktoberfest because it is fun to try food from other cultures and to make new friends through German Club.”

Along with the excitement of the activities, participants will also be able to get a taste of Germany with a literal taste. The many German foods and drinks will come from local caterers. Apfelschorle (a combination of Apple Juice and Carbonated Water) and Spezi (Orange Soda mixed with Cola) are two drinks that are favorites among German students. According to Herr Higgins, “Cheeses, sausages, and Sauerkraut will take their rightful places on the Oktoberfest table.” Along with these foods, there will be German candies and desserts.

Oktoberfest is a perfect way to experience German culture through playing games and enjoying the cultural food, along with many other students from German Clubs in D155.
