Twilight Talk

Two readers re-visit the popular series

Twilight Talk

Though everyone has seen or heard of Twilight and has their own thoughts on it, many have never even picked up the novel, or even watched the movie. We’re here to give you our thoughts on Twilight and hopefully convince you to try it.

Contrary to the feelings of many people, we felt as though the Twilight series did not lack in excitement. Twilight has a different plot line that makes it stand out. Maybe that is why there is such a controversy? We recommended this series to a friend who does lots of reading, and she ending up not liking it as much as we did. Her reason for not liking the series was valid; she said it was slow and didn’t have much substance to it. Well, at some points in the series, nothing happened. For example, in New Moon, Bella’s life ended because Edward left her. Yes, as a reader I wanted him back, but the novel catapulted because of the end in plot. We feel that Twilight is either a book you love or hate.

The way the producers chose to portray the book in the movies wasn’t quite right. They went too much for the mythical creature approach that they forgot about the actual point of it. The producers were very consumed in the marketing and how they could portray and sell it, that they forgot about keeping it true to Stephenie Meyer. While we were reading the book, we noticed lots of the pages were filled with the thoughts of Bella. In the movie, Bella’s thoughts didn’t come through as well as the readers would have liked. The movies are also quite slow and dramatic. In the movie, over 24 minutes of staring occurs! The movies were just not as true to the book as they could have been.

Twilight is aimed towards teenage girls who love the fantasy and romance genres. If you even somewhat like these genre, try Twilight.

Twilight will keep you up at night wanting to keep reading more and more. The worst that can happen is you don’t like it, but get your own opinion on it!

Be a proud fan of Twilight, and always remember… TEAM EDWARD!
