November 6, 2012 was the day the highly anticipated new installment to the Halo series was released in stores all across the United States. An estimated 3.1 million copies of the game were sold worldwide to excited gamers on the opening day alone, with North America leading the sales. The massive amount of copies sold was helped by the huge success of the other Halo games.
The game is not only impressive because of the massive amount of copies sold but also because of the game play itself.
The campaign is full of many incredible and realistic environments and terrains. On top of the terrains many of the new vehicles and buildings are riddled with intricate designs and textures.
The story itself is excellent and complex. It has many twists and turns that you will never see coming. The twists come from the new race of aliens, the Prometheans, whose planet gets invaded by the Spartans.
Along with the new faces come some old favorites like Master Chief, the hero of the story, and his half cybernetic guide, Cortana.
Overall, the story is magnificent blend of action and Halo lore which any action game fan would enjoy. Prairie Ridge senior Joe Cowlin called this new Halo “the best campaign so far.”
The multiplayer is equally as good. With the addition of weapon choice and new perks, players have a more individualized multiplayer experience. The multiplayer also has many new vehicles such as Mantises which can give your team the advantage on one of the many new and interactive multiplayer maps.
As a whole, Halo 4 is a must buy game which will yield many hours of challenges and enjoyment. This is supported by PR senior Nick Siedlecki said his “money was well spent.”
