In the world we are in today, no one should be surprised to see such an uprising by the media over a case that some say is irrelevant. Herman Cain, accused of sexual harassment by at least three women, is trying to earn the Republican nomination for president of the United States. Before this incident, Cain was leading in the Republican polls. But when the media smelled blood, that all changed.
Everyone has flaws. Everyone has done something they regret. Everyone has to move on. Herman Cain may have done something morally wrong, but that was 20 years ago. Maybe he wasn’t ready for the presidency then, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t now. From the polls prior to the allegations, Cain held a commanding lead. Obviously, certain Republicans felt that Cain has what it takes to run this country. Why have some Republicans changed their minds? The answer is simple. The media ostracizes anything they get their hands on. People rely too much on their morals when considering candidates. While morals are important, they do not affect the policy making or decision making of politicians. A nominee may disagree with your policies at home, but still may be suited to run the country.
Herman Cain, a capable Republican nominee, is falling out of the race over a questionable sexual harassment case. Let’s just move on. Let’s try to give him a chance to succeed as nominee, or even president. Because who knows, we may be scaring away one of the best presidents in the history of this country.
