NHL Lockout will continue through November
On October 28th NHL commissioner Gary Bettman announced that the NHL lockout will continue through November and possibly longer. Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly stated, “we had tried to preserve the 82 games for this season but sadly it doesn’t look like that is going to happen.”
There have been many meetings between Gary Bettman and the other NHL board members to try to reach an agreement on how much owners and players should make.
“I will be going to play for the Rytíři Kladno in Europe until the lockout is over,” Jaromir Jagr said during an interview. Jaromir isn’t the only player to leave the NHL temporarily due to the NHL lockout. Other players to join him include Mike Richards, Evander Kane, Zdeno Chara, and Anton Babchuk. Even though it’s not likely for the NHL to have its usual 82 game season they still have time to make an agreement and get this season started.
When asked how he feels about the NHL lockout continuing, Prairie Ridge student Matt O’Connor said, “Why can’t they just start the season already? It’s not like they’re not getting paid enough. They’re just being greedy.” It’s becoming more and more clear that everybody just wants the NHL season to start.
