Over spring break, PR students and staff traveled to the East Coast.

Over spring break 22 students and 4 brave teachers headed to the East Coast for PR’s first ever school-related field trip. Hopping from Boston to New York to Washington D.C., the travelers had a full itinerary each day.

Starting their adventure in Boston, Massachusetts the travelers walked the Freedom Trail, saw Paul Revere’s house and went on a Duck Boat tour through the town. The group also got a private tour of Fenway Park and got to sit classy in the press box.

Next they headed to Salem and found a pretty neat wand store where senior, Alex Pritzen was drawn in by the magic and left the store a proud wand owner.

According to senior Paige Carroll, “My favorite part was probably walking around Boston and seeing the monuments in DC.”

The travelers’ next stop was New York City. They wandered through Central Park and Time Square.

“My favorite memory was Time Square,” said trip coordinator, Mr. Mason. “It was just amazing.”

The group saw many museums along with the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and the 9/11 Memorial. They almost made an appearance on the Today Show as well. To end their time in New York City, the group got to see Jersey Boys, a Broadway show.

Senior Hannah Smith shared her excitement on Instagram: "Today was easily one of the best days of my life and I have fallen head over heels for the big apple! I got to see my first show on Broadway, Jersey Boys, and Id be lying if I said I didn't cry from pure joy! From the Statue of Liberty to Ground Zero this city has been life changing in the most amazing of ways! Thanks NYC see you soon (I hope!)"

According to junior Riley Kunz, “My favorite memory would be going to see Jersey Boys and shopping in Time Square after.”

The last stop on the trip was Washington D.C. The travelers got to see many of the historic monuments and Smithsonian museums. To end their adventure, the group went on a Spirit dinner cruise where the students and even staff got to show off their dance skills. It was a close tie between Ms. Tyler and Mr. Walker for the best dance moves award.

At the end of the busy week, each and everyone built a new friendship and tons of memories that they will keep with them forever.  For the seniors on the trip, which was majority of the students, this was their last hurrah before graduation and heading off to college.

I am sure many of you have seen the posters around school for next year’s spring break trip to Europe.

Mr. Mason put in a few words about next year’s trip, “Two things I need to say about next years trip: #1 It will be very exciting to see the different places in Europe and #2 The trip would not be possible without the amazing group of students from this year. Encourage anyone and everyone to sign up.”
