On May 13, several seniors will compete in PRAC to showcase their talents and win money to donate to charity. Student council sponsors this annual variety show.

Although many Prairie Ridge seniors are eager to graduate on May 30th, they are given one last great opportunity to showcase their talents and raise money for a charity of their choice. This unique event is going to be held on May 13th, and the contestants are anxious to put on an exciting performance.

PRAC is an entertaining event, similar to a talent show that not only seniors look forward to, but the entire school and Prairie Ridge community. At this showcase you will be able to see numerous acts such as a magic show or even a dance routine. Student Council runs this event and they are responsible for choosing five senior girls and five seniors boys to participate in the show. A few Prairie Ridge faculty members will be the judges and award first and second place to both genders.

Many PR students are quite curious to see what acts are in store, and Jada Berkland, senior and PRAC contestant expresses, “I’ve watched PRAC every year, which made me excited to do it this year.”

Student Council will not disclose any information about the acts this year, but the final PRAC contestants are Sam Click, Rami Halabi, Alicia Komes, DJ Lima, Ginika Osude, Brooke Carpenter, Jada Berkland, Nate Powell, Maggie Tucker, and Connor Zordan.

Lauren Erickson, a senior at Prairie Ridge and Co-President of Student Council reveals, “It’s limited to seniors because that way you have the entire four years to look forward to this show, which makes it that much more exciting!”

Crystal Lake South, another D155 High School has their own version of this showcase called Mr. CLS, which is their pageant competition for the seniors at that school. Therefore, providing a memorable event for Crystal Lake seniors is something that D155 takes pride in.

As PRAC’s date is coming near, Shannon Patinella, a senior and Co-President of Student Council admits, “It’s funny for the whole school and it gives the seniors one last hurrah before they graduate!”

PRAC is an annual tradition that truly captivates the audiences attention and spreads laughter throughout the theater. The tickets will be sold for $5 and the show time is from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m..This priceless showcase entices the student body to come together at the end of the year for a fun event that everyone can enjoy, even if you don’t know the seniors competing.
