Leaving Our Mark

Everyone has seen the murals of past years on the walls and thought to themselves “what are we going to do?” The senior project committee that meets Wednesday mornings at 7:00 room 327 (feel free to attend) put out the message to submit ideas for a mural. Senior Maya Jacobs designed her own mural, and it was very well liked. When talking to Maya, I got all the details that any senior, or anyone, would like to know:

Where did you find your inspiration from when trying to come up with an idea?
Just doodles in my notebooks/on homework, etc., honestly. I was playing around with sharpies and colored pencils when I saw the flyer go up about the mural meeting, and decided to put a few of my ideas together. Plus, I got a chance to talk with a few friends, Mrs.Buck, and Mrs. Kendall which gave a few more ideas as well. I think the overall idea of the mural in my mind is supposed to represent the endless possibilities that we have after we leave PR. The designs kind of expand from the center, leading off in different directions.

What were you thinking about along the lines of colors?
Going with the “different directions” theme, I figured a rainbow of colors would be best.

Did you have a size or wall in mind at all-if so, which one were you thinking about? Anywhere is good, and it all depends on what the mural board wants. Some ideas have been floating around about it being in one of the stairwells, which I think would be pretty sweet as well. Not quite as big as the 007 mural… but not quite as small as the footprints one above the senior hallway. I wasn’t thinking more than 8ft x 8ft, but it depends on what the senior project committee decides.

Where did you want the names to make them fit the best?
I am planning on incorporating the names into the designs throughout the mural, adding to the idea of individual decisions, possibilities, and futures.

The idea and doodle is rock solid and everyone who has seen or heard about it is very excited and can’t wait to start. If you have questions or want to help, feel free to ask Maya, Mrs. Buck, or come to one of the Wednesday morning meetings.
