Haunted Schools of Crystal Lake

Haunted Schools of Crystal Lake

A crisp chill permeates the air. Leaves float from the trees, the days get shorter, and the nights get scarier. We don’t know what lurks in the dark and mysterious shadows, or if anything’s there at all. Today on Halloween, Wolf Prints shares–for fun–some of the possibly phony bone-chilling stories from local people.

The first claimed sighting comes from students that previously attended St. Thomas the Apostle School. A group of students were in the building for a math enrichment course when an eerie voice over the intercom whispered, “are you there?” In confusion and fright, the students barely had time to think before the voice repeated the creepy phrase once more. Minutes later, the lights to the room began to rapidly flicker on and off, but no one was anywhere near the light switch. In panic, the students fled from the room, and the mysterious activity stopped. When Wolf Prints attempted to verify this occurrence with a former St. Thomas student, the student stated that she had never experienced any odd happenings, and that she doesn’t believe in the supernatural.

Our next alleged account comes from a tardy student at Lundahl Middle School. It was the late fall of 2012 as the student hastily made their way through the vacant hallways in the early morning. As the student approached their classroom, odd movement in the hallway caused them to stop in their tracks. Not far away, a large, white apparition floated towards them at a steady pace. A cold breeze blew through the hall, and chills ran through the student. Just before the apparition could get to the student, they darted into their classroom, which was luckily in reach. The student probably never came late to school again, if anything.

If you enjoyed these ghost tales, they are just a couple of the many sighting stories GhostsofAmerica.com users have reported in Crystal Lake. Although confirming ghost stories can be tricky, it’s not uncommon for minds to leap to the supernatural when something unexpected happens. Have a spooky Halloween, Prairie Ridge!
