Reilly Branson, Gigi Relic, and Mary Kate Willis practice their scene in Noises Off, Prairie Ridge High School’s 2015 fall play.

Sardines and underwear and doors — oh my! All are key components in Prairie Ridge’s 2015 fall play, Noises Off. With only a cast of 11, it’s a small, but highly entertaining show.

The charming “play within a play” examines the aspects of putting on a challenging production, onstage and off. “[Noises Off] is about a group of actors, and a director, and some tech people… preparing a play, and then the following acts follow some performances of the play…” Mr.Dusenske, the director of the production explained.

Now, let’s back up for a second: underwear?

Yes, underwear. Noises Off involves some features that may seem slightly provocative; sex-capades and trouser dropping are returning aspects of the play.
When asked if this might be perceived in a negative way, Mr.Dusenske simply stated that he was “hoping not…I’m definitely trying to take steps to make it more innocuous…but when I performed it [as a student] in a pretty conservative high school, I didn’t have any issues with it.”

So, underwear, sardines, and door slams. Is there anything else that could possibly make this play stand out even more?

“The fun element of it is a huge part of it,” Mr.Dusenske explains. “It’s probably one of the funniest shows that I’ve done here.”

So aside from the show’s unique feel, why else should everyone come see the show? “It’s kinda crazy, it’s kinda funny and [hopefully] people walk away with their faces and stomachs hurting from laughing so hard.”

Performances will be Friday, October 16th, and Saturday, October 17th at 7pm. Tickets are $5 for students and $8 for adults and will be sold at the door.
