Madrigal Dinner

The annual PR show that will transport you back to the year 1413

Since the end of July, 18 individually selected students have been practicing as much as any sports team to put on the annual Prairie Ridge Madrigal Dinner and Show.  Neil Pretkelis, one of the Madrigal singers, say that they have been working on about 27 high level pieces of music for this three night event.  Neil say that the best part of the show is “finally showing off the songs we have been working on constantly for so long.”

“A Madrigal dinner…”, as defined by Wikipedia, “…is an American form of dinner theater often held by schools… during the[Holiday] season. It is set in the Middle Ages and is generally comedic in nature. The meal is divided into courses, each of which is heralded with a traditional song. A play is performed between the courses and a concert of choral music concludes the festivities.”

It really is not more than a mix between a Renaissance fair and a silly show performed by some truly talented people.  Not only is there singing but a full meal served on stage, actors and entertainers for your enjoyment, and a funny story written by the students to connect it all together.  Since all the tickets for sitting on stage sold out so quickly they decided to add another show on Thursday December 5th at 6:45pm.  Tickets are $23 dollars and are going fast.  If you are interested you can get tickets in the Choir room, see Mr. Jensen for details and tickets.  While sitting on stage and eating the meal is a great experience you can still enjoy the show for a much cheaper price.  Tickets in the audience are sold for five dollars at the door for all four shows and is a great, and affordable, way to see a great show and to support the over 100 PR students that have worked so hard to put it all together.

Come Join the Prairie Ridge Music Department in this once in a year show for an experience you will never forget.  Shows are on Thursday December 5th at 6:45pm, Friday December 6th at 6:45pm, and Saturday December 7th at 12:45pm and 6:45pm.  Tickets sold at the door for five dollars.  Don’t miss this truly awesome show.
