The holiday season is upon us, here at Prairie Ridge, and students are definitely feeling the spirit of season.
As it is coming up, the Holiday Season, that is, we take a look into the community at Prairie Ridge and see what is going on with the students’ and teachers’ traditions for the holidays. A lot of people are looking forward to this upcoming holiday season, to spend time with the family, to reflect on what is really important in life, and for some the gift giving!
A Prairie Ridge senior, Mike Emery, spoke about how his family and their traditions, proclaiming “Every year we get up on Christmas Day, dress up nicely, and go to church. Following that, we have a big family dinner and spend the evening all at my grandfather’s house.” Mike is ecstatic about the upcoming holiday season and cannot wait.
Senior Christina Kappil talked about how she gets up, gets all dressed up for church and enjoys a huge dinner with her extended family. “I have done this every year for as long as I can remember,” she said.
Staff members also have holiday traditions. Mrs. Gallagher, PR English teacher, spoke about how she has had some very firm traditions from her past that she still continues to follow to this day. “I go to church every year and even sing the carols with everyone!” And with that she also proclaimed, “When I was younger I used to sing in the midnight mass, but I am just too old now.” Mrs. Gallagher is very excited for the holidays and like most others, cannot wait to continue on the family holiday traditions.
