Cinderella (2015) is one example of Disney’s new live action films.

Beauty and the Beast was the most recent of the many live action movies created by Disney. Other films in the Disney’s live action series include Alice in Wonderland (2010), Maleficent (2014), Cinderella (2015), and The Jungle Book (2016). All of these films, especially Beauty and the Beast, won the hearts lots of Disney fans! But Disney isn’t done yet! There are plans for many, many, many more revivals of the beloved classics.

In 2015, Disney purchased a script to bring a live action movie of Mulan. To sum up, Mulan is a young women who pretends to be a man to take her father’s place in a war against the Huns. Niki Caro, the director of The Zookeeper’s Wife, is set to direct the film. Caro is also the second female director at Disney to have a budget above $100 million. “I am very excited, but I am worried about the computer-generated Musho won’t look good,” says senior William Effinger.

From China to India, Disney looks to next recreate The Jungle Book 2. The sequel is said to bring back the original cast from the 2015 movie. Director of Iron Man and live action The Jungle Book Jon Favreau has confirmed that he plans to direct the film. PR students are excited to see it after the great success of its predecessor. More than excited, some are curious to see what kind of trouble Mowgli finds himself to be in next? Junior Emily Nikolich says ¨The story was my favorite as a child, so I’m excited to see it revived.¨

Another animal coming to life is Dumbo from the 1941 animated movie. Tim Burton will direct the movie about the young elephant who gets bullied because of his large ears. At this point you’re probably wondering how will Disney get so many animals to act? Not to worry, Disney has already decided that not to use real elephants.  Much like the Beast in Beauty and the Beast, Disney will use a CGI technology to animate the animals.

Game of Thrones fans and Disney fans will unite with the release of The Sword in the Stone which will be directed by Bryan Cogman. This movie will remake the 1963’s movie about King Arthur and his wizard mentor Merlin. Junior Julia Conti says “I am interested to see how accurate the casting is for the role of Arthur. In the lore he is barely adolescent when he becomes king, but I expect a 20 year old will likely play his part.”

Did you ever feel like the Prince Charmings never got a lot of screen time? If you said yes, then you’re in luck because one of the princes (supposedly Cinderella’s or Snow White’s) will have his own movie.  Disney also will use its magic to make new movies based on familiar characters.

In honor of Robin Williams, the voice behind the Genie in Aladdin, Disney plans to make a movie focusing solely on Genie’s life in and out of the magical lamp. On top of that, Aladdin himself will have his own movie!

But these are not the only projects coming to the big screens in the future. Other films such as The Lion King, Cruella de Vil, Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan, Tinkerbell, Pinocchio, Snow White, and The Little Mermaid will be coming too!
